Kennedy (shown at the start of the film accepting the Democratic nomination for President in the 1968 election) was assassinated in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California on June 5, 1968. The assassination occurred shortly after midnight, in the hotel's kitchen, following Kennedy's victory speech in the California Democratic presidential primary. Kennedy was shot three times at point-blank range by Sirhan Sirhan; the stricken candidate was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where we would pass away 26 hours later.. Five other people were also wounded in the attack. Sirhan was arrested at the scene and convicted of murder. He is currently serving a life sentence in prison.
