The film begins with images of France in August of 1944, as U.S. troops celebrate (prematurely as it turned out) the liberation of Europe from the Nazis. The German counterattack in December of 1944 proved devastating to Allied hopes of the war ending by the New Year. This film shows wounded and dead troops, and American forces struggling to regain the initiative in the fight against the Germans. Featuring captured German film footage, this film shows the Nazis fighting desperately to survive and launch counter-attacks, including the Battle of the Bulge at the 3:30 mark. German troops are shown smoking American cigarettes taken from the dead, and huge amounts of American supplies are shown being torched by the Wehrmacht. General Eisenhower is shown at the 9 minute mark, speaking to American troops after the battle. Gruesome images of the dead are shown at the 10 minute mark.
