This black &amp; white newsreel film from Columbia Pictures "Cadet Champs" examines the physical side of being a Cadet at the United States Military Academy at West Point. More specifically, it focuses on the athletic and physical fitness programs at West Point, with special attention to the Black Knights football team. Copyright 1937 and narrated by Ford Bond, who was the announcer for several popular radio shows in the 1930s and 1940s, and a sports announcer for NBC radio in the 1930s, calling college football games as well as the 1934 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and 1934 World Series. Opening titles: Columbia Pictures presents "Cadet Champions" (:06). West Point Military Academy in West Point, NY (:27) where Cadets are shown in various athletic uniforms including what appears to be baseball uniforms, boxing or wrestling outfits, football uniforms, lacrosse, and other sports (:33). Lacrosse team marches (:58). Cadets perform calisthenics in the gymnasium (1:07). They do push-ups (1:44) and then Cadets continue to exercise in the gymnasium (2:03). Cadets do gymnastic exercises on pommel horses (2:50). Parallel bars (3:44). Fencing (3:58). Boxing (4:39). Horseback riding was deemed essential in this period because up until 1942 the Army still maintained stables of horses for the cavalry (5:30). Jumping over obstacles (6:03).  Lacrosse game (6:15). Football game featuring the Army team (7:04).  In 1937, the Black Knights compiled a 7–2 record under coach Gar Davidson. Football kickoff (8:06). End credit (8:44).
