The film was created in the aftermath of the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912, and shows views of the ship as well as Captain Smith. The film also shows survivors of the sinking including crewmen, and the SS Carpathia rescue ship. If you read the title cards that precede the movie, you will learn a bit more about the origins of the film. Supposedly many of the shots in the film which were of the Titanic, were actually not of that ship but the sister ship Brittanic or Olympic. However a lot of what is on screen is authentic. This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA.
