Many of the missions are rundown or in ruins. The film begins with the Mission San Diego de Alcala (0:15), founded in 1769 by Fra. Junipero Serra. A closeup of the Mission bell tower (0:49) and courtyard. Mission San Luis Ray, founded 1798 in Oceanside, California (2:16). Shots of a fountain (2:41) and various statues (3:10).
