        <description>This is part 2 of "That War in Korea", an epic documentary about the Korean Conflict. The war was fought from 1950 to 1953 as North Korea invaded southern Korea. Encyclopedia Britannica produced educational films on 16mm film during the 20th century for library and school use. This is the second portion of a two part feature. Joint Chiefs of Staff (2:27); Bradley, Collins, Sherman and Vandenberg approved the policy limiting fighting to Korea. Truman and George Marshall are pictured (2:42). Reporters surround Truman’s desk on April 11th, 1951 (2:54). Truman delivers explanation (3:17) to the removal of MacArthur. New York post headlines read “Mac Out” (3:56). Tear gas and concussion grenades are tossed in (11:54). American tanks roll in (12:19). POW’s attempt to escape through the wire (12:51). Smoke clouds billow over the camp (12:55). Prisoners are captured (13:00). UN and American prisoners (13:22) were moved for Manchuria. Stalin’s poster is riddled with bullet holes (14:08). Communist propaganda delivered headlines the USAF (14:37) used plague germs against Korea. Communist films show staged prisoner confessions (14:53). UN forces move through streets of Seoul (15:16). Two servicemen stand by a sign informing soldiers to clear their weapons (15:37). A statement is heard in 1952 over the radio (15:43) in Seoul by Eisenhower. A banner welcomes the new president elect (15:57). Ike is pictured in Korea (16:08). Mutilated bodies of southern Koreans lay across the sand (17:16). Women mourn alongside the white sheets spotted with red (17:37). The Civil War Soldier’s monument stands in Dayton, Ohio (17:49). Bar patrons receive news of the war on the TV (18:34). The arrest of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg appears (18:40). Joseph McCarthy (19:05) accused the government of housing Communists. The B-29 Superfortress is pictured (19:51) as the UN conducted Operation Killer and Operation Ripper. Payloads are unleashed (20:29). Footage follows from Air Force fighting planes targeting ground installations (20:55). A railcar explodes (21:03). Forces move across the 38th parallel (21:08). General Matthew Ridgeway delivers a request for a ceasefire (21:19). US troops welcome the announcement (21:37). A sign points for Kaesong (21:50). The Korean Armistice Negotiations begin (21:58) as UN Truth Teams arrive. Vice Admiral Charles Turner Joy lead the discussion (22:08). Combat continued (23:23) over the Korean hills (24:07). William Kelly Harrison (25:08) signs the Korean War Armistice (25:10) in 1953. UN press release the news (25:22). Troops listen over the radio (26:02). Flares signal the end of combat (27:10). Medic jeeps move into POW camps (27:44). POW General William Dean is released (28:28). POW’s report about communist torture and brainwashing (28:57). Defectors march as they chose to remain under Communism (32:32). Chinese and North Korean soldiers renounce Communism (34:32). Soldiers prepare to leave the trenches (35:10).
