It documents the grueling off-road race, the Baja 1000 , highlighting the challenges of the terrain and the competitors' sheer willpower. The story focuses on one team, led by driver Roger Mears and his father, Bill Mears. The vehicle featured in the film is the Jeep J-10 Honcho, known as "The King of Beers". This Jeep was the Head Honcho in Class 3 Desert Racing from 1979 to 1982, and owned by Mike Moore. Roger Mears wheeled the Jeep Honcho to multiple Riverside Off Road World Championships, along with victories in the Baja 1000, Baja 500, the Mint 400 and the Parker 400. (Note: The Honcho was a trim package on the J10 pickup, offered from 1976-1983.) Roger Mears is best known for his career in off-road racing, he also drove in the USAC and CART series from 1978 to 1984. He competed in 31 races, including the Indianapolis 500 in 1982 and 1983. He finished in the top ten 17 times, with three fourth-place finishes. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
