        <description>This color educational film produced by NASA about the Flight Crew Support Division is Report #2, dated December 31, 1964. Flight crew support will be needed for the upcoming Gemini and Apollo operations. Astronauts Edward White (who would die in the Apollo 1 fire) and James McDivitt are shown, who are training for the GT4 flight crew (:35-:47). This division has several experimental and training equipment pieces in Houston, including Gemini mission simulator #2, which is entered by the two astronauts (:49-1:41). The last 100 feet and the docking maneuvers are practiced by the astronauts in the six degrees of freedom Gemini translation and docking simulator (1:48-2:45). The control room monitors the simulation, programmed on an analog computer, and a closed-circuit television provides a exterior view (2:45-3:00). The instructor has a duplicate instrument panel, allowing him to introduce system failures, which the astronauts must address (3:01- 3:27). The astronaut must complete the docking and undocking tasks (3:27-3:55). Another docking simulator is cable suspended and known as a moving base docking simulator. It is at Langley Research Center (3:58-5:02). The crews learn flight planning, and shown is the special flight plan readout that is photographed on rolls of 90-millimeter film (5:04-4:48). Flight controllers, shown in the Mission Control Center, have copies of this flight plan. The GT3 flight plan is the blueprint for the first manned Gemini mission of astronauts Virgil Grissom (who would die in the Apollo 1 fire) and John Young (5:50-6:11). An astronaut lays on his back and uses his muscles in a simulated weightless environment on a Beta Trainer (6:12-6:34). The Beta Trainer components are described in detail (6:35-7:44), providing the atmosphere an astronaut needs to practice using a handheld extra vehicular propulsion unit (7:45-9:00). To practice for Apollo lunar landing missions, a Lunar Landing Research Vehicle simulator is under development, which includes a turbofan jet engine, hydrogen peroxide lift rockets, and an ejection seat. How it works is explained in detail (9:06-12:06). The first flight tests for this vehicle are shown on October 13, 1964 (12:07-12:39). The GT4 flight crew is again shown training in the Gemini mission simulator #2 and the docking simulator (12:41-13:11). The preliminary GT3 flight plan has been compiled (13:12). The Lunar Landing Research Vehicle continues to be tested (13:34-14:05). Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
