Elder, POLAND presents images of that nation prior to WWII and the Nazi occupation. Elder, born in 1902, was a prolific British director who worked in the 1960s. The film presents terrific images including a cable railway at the 1:30 mark, a sheep farm and peasant life at 3:00, the Vistula River and the bridges over it leading to Warsaw. The capitol is seen at the 5 minute mark, including rare images of the city's Jewish population at the 5:24 mark, noted as "one of the problems of new Poland" due to their segregation from society. A Jewish neighborhood is seen at the 6:00 mark. The port of Gdynia is shown at 7:27, built out of necessity following WWI. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
