Following a large outbreak of sexually transmitted diseases after the outbreak of WW2; the War Department sparked an interest in sexual education to the public and the government. This film contains graphic images which may not be suitable for all viewers. Much of the film is of a film within a film as soldiers watch a sexual education film detailing the harm sexually transmitted diseases do to the body. The US government created this film during the Second World War. It was intended to be used as a scare tactic in order to sway soldiers from participating in sex; it encourages abstinence or the use of condoms, while in military service. During this time period, many were uninformed about sexually transmitted diseases. It opens with a lengthy note (:07) encouraging enlisted to care for themselves; adding a tone of reproach noting if a soldier contracts an STD due to carelessness it will result in additional pressure and work load on their peers. Wet dreams are explained (2:22). A sergeant orders a cadet to paste posters inviting soldiers to attend the showing of the sexual education film titled 'Sexual Hygiene' (3:08). The memo appears (3:24).  Soldiers march (3:40). Lights snap off as the film is blasted onto a projector (4:14) featuring an officer of the Army Medical Corps. He immediately pushes for countenance and abstinence (4:52). He notes condoms are easily obtained through the medical corps (5:06). A soldier suspected to have contracted a venereal disease meets with a military doctor (5:20). A slide is inspected under the microscope (5:31) showing the organism that causes 'sleeping sickness'. Another slide shows the organism which causes malaria (5:40). Syphilis germs wiggle under the scope (5:50).  An image of a man's genitalia appears (6:36). The inner organs are displayed (7:10). A splice shows one side of the body (7:33). The prostate, rectum, testicles and scrotum are highlighted (8:18); areas extremely vulnerable to disease. Syphilis, gonorrhea and chancre are noted (9:06). A chart notes the disease can shorten a man's life by five years (9:50). The syphilis germ is explained (10:03). A man's penis suspected to have contracted syphilis is inspected as a hard chancer had formed (10:24). A soldier shakes his head in the crowd as the penis is rotated and the sore shown off (10:27). Another man wearing a mask displays a large sore on the lip retrieved after kissing an area affected with the disease (10:37). Another penis is inspected with a visible sore (11:11). Another case study (11:32) shows a man with a hard chancer in the throat (11:36). He wags his tongue (11:54). Treatment is discussed (12:10); preventive treatment must be consumed two hours following intercourse. A medical professional applies medicine to an infected penis (12:35). A patient’s back (12:53) is noted to have a rash on it as the disease had spread to the entire body. A chart presents the level of insanity (13:33) resulted from untreated syphilis. Nurse practitioners sit atop a sick man flailing in bed (13:41) in order to administer him treatment. Bottles of medicine of treatment for syphilis (14:12). A man shows the underbelly of his tongue (14:24) covered in chancres. The germ which causes gonorrhea appears (14:46). Pus trickles from the tip of an infected member (15:05). An abscess is pointed out on a diagram (15:18). Symptoms include pain and burning (15:32). The germs are zoomed in on under the microscope (15:49). Blue balls are mentioned (16:03). Abscesses are noted on a man's lower abdomen (16:35). A soldier meets with an improperly trained druggist (17:15). Prevention methods are explored (18:13). A nurse holds rubbers (18:20). Following intercourse, a soldier washes his hands and penis (18:53). He enters the venereal prophylaxis station (19:00). Troops who suspect that they have contracted venereal diseases are ordered to contact their sergeant (20:38). He encourages soldiers from getting too drunk (20:57) and behaving carelessly.  Soldiers are encouraged to stay healthy and clean (21:29). A closing note reminds the men to refrain from sexual endeavors regardless of what his peers suggest (22:17).
