Symbols of American freedom appear in montage (3:10). Gallop polls were collected over increasing the military (3:22). Representative Andrews J. May of Kentucky addresses the First Washington conference (3:35). Charles Edison (3:46); Secretary of the Navy speaks. Hitler smiles over a newly captured Czechoslovakia (4:23). Wilson scribes a press releases for Mussolini and Italy (5:01). Adolph speaks at a Nazi conference in Berlin in 1939 (5:12). Herman Goering (5:25) and Joseph Goebbels follow (5:31). Germany invades Poland (5:48). Combat erupts (5:54). Americans listen to radio updates (6:34) and learn how to wear gas masks (7:01). A Krupp K5 gun blasts (7:50). Roosevelt heads a special session of Congress (8:05) in 1941. Gallop polls collect responses from citizens over the Neutrality Act (9:06). The act was altered (9:17). Japanese guns (9:37) blow for Chinese munitions. American sympathies for China or Japan (10:10) are measured. Mr. Acheson; Secretary of State (10:37) addresses viewers. Nazi dive bombers (12:11) drop explosives. Germans retreat to Dunkirk (12:33). Hitler marches alongside his armies (13:16); the Nazi flag unfolds (13:40) as American radio listeners hear about the German Armistice. Nazis march in front of the Arc de Triomphe (14:01). Hitler peers around at the Eiffel tower (14:40). The Nazi affect is captured in Brazil (15:35); Germans took residency here. German schools (15:40) were erected for Nazi books and teachers. German athletic clubs (15:57) and German businesses appear in Argentina (16:03).  The Havana Conference follows in June of 1940 (16:08). The Museum of Revolution (16:10) in Cuba appears. Cordell hull; US Secretary of State (16:16) speaks. FDR (16:51) discusses buildup of war industry.  Naval ships are constructed (17:12). The growing army (17:41) was put together rapidly and lacked proper equipment. Flour is tossed on a tank (17:45) in combat practice. Light and medium tanks roll through (18:03). Minutemen are gathered (18:13). Congress passed the Selective Service Act of 1940 (18:27). FDR calls numbers (18:57). Draftees are inducted (19:25). Nazis blast a blitz over Britain (19:58). Edward Morrow (20:02), addresses the public. 18 destroyers remained from WW1 (20:53). Scenes follow of 50 restored destroyers (20:57) shipped to Britain (21:02). Winston Churchill (21:07) signs for their arrival. Hitler salutes prior to signing the Tripartite Pact (22:00). Maps show the German spread in June of 1941 (25:30). The body of a de Havilland DH-88 follows (25:58). Cargo rolls over Burma Road to China (26:08). Supplies arrive in Iran (26:15).  Charts theorize German conquest and subsequent loss of resources (27:56). First shipments of American troops push for Europe (29:12). Torpedo’s blow from submarines (29:35). Henry Stimson (29:54) and Wendell Willkie (30:17) address the public. Japanese task forces (31:39) head out. Kurusu arrives in California in November of 1941 (31:52). November 17, Kurusu (32:23) and ambassador Nomura meet with the president escorted by Secretary of State Cordell Hull (32:29). The task force nears Pearl Harbor (33:01). On December 7 (33:10) Japanese war planes take off from aircraft carriers (33:25) while Japanese emissaries maintained an appointment with the secretary of state (33:42). Japanese emissaries telephone (34:01) stating they would be late. The Hawaii Aloha tower (34:09) and Hickman air field follow (34:16). Japanese war planes (34:26) hit Pearl Harbor. The Japanese envoy arrives at the State Department (35:24) as (35:29) Pearl Harbor burns. US ground forces fire at incoming planes (35:45). Japanese officials present a memorandum to Mr. Hull (36:01). Wounded are carted by litter (37:59).
