Along the way it shows the industry arrayed around the lakes, including steel mills and factories. At 1:37 a passenger steamer (possibly SS Keewatin or sister ship SS Assiniboia ) is shown. A Great Lakes ore carrier the William G. Clyde is seen at 1:50. At 2:14 are more views of the passenger ship. At 2:30 Canadian grain is loaded on to a cargo vessel. At 3:00 welders are shown at work. At 3:36 Port William and Port Arthur are shown on a map and at 3:49 vast booms of logs are seen on the lake. They are manipulated by men with poles and moved onto a conveyer belt (4:16) to be debarked and stacked in a huge pile (4:46). At 5:10 a crane moves wheat into a ship. At 6:10 Great Lakes Paper Co. raw paper / newsprint is shown destined for use in newspapers around the United States. At 6:35 Winnipeg is shown on a map at Sault Ste-Marie. At 6:51 wheat is shown being harvested on a farm. At 7:01 a Midland & Pacific Railroad grain storage facility is shown. At 7:09 a steam locomotive hauls cargo into a freight yard and then to a dock. At 7:30 a dockside locomotive pushes cargo. At 7:42 box cars are tilted on a special hydraulic ramp to empty their contents. At 8:13 another Great Lakes ship is shown being loaded with grain (8:26). At 9:09 the hatch is battened down. At 9:17 the Canadian National ship leaves on its journey. At 10:10 Great Lakes ships are seen in heavy fog. At 10:25 a Ford owned ship blows its foghorn.
