The tourist shot footage of the SS President Wilson, a passenger ship launched in 1947, which ran a Pacific Ocean route until it was decommissioned in 1970. The film mainly focuses on the Philippines in its first years after independence in 1946. As an American commonwealth, the Philippines was invaded and occupied by Japan during World War II. This film also contains footage of the historic University of Santo Tomas in Manila. The Catholic institution was founded in 1611 and is currently one of the world’s largest Catholic universities in terms of enrollment.
