A trip to Germany provides the traveler a trip full of history, culture, scenery, delicious food, city life, and more. Fly into Berlin (01:28), and visit the bustling streets with all they offer. Stop in at the Pan Am office (01:51) or visit famous coffee houses, such as Café Kranzler on Kurfurstendamm Street (02:16), which always provides excellent people watching. There is always something to see in Berlin, from a street performer with his eagle (02:42) to street artists, from fashion to food. Berlin’s pulse keeps going after the sun goes down. Don’t miss the numerous theatres and restaurants (03:00), including The Ritz (03:16), one of Berlin’s best restaurants. Go just outside Berlin to the Wannsee for sailing (04:17) and a lakeside lunch, then return to Germany’s capital city to visit the Berlin Museum (04:41) and the Old Kaiser Whilhelm Memorial Church (05:21) and modern namesake neighbor (05:33). In the city of Cologne, the Great Cathedral (06:23) towers above the square and is a must-see. From Cologne, journey down the Rhine River (07:27) in a Rhine Steamer, which offers incredible views of the river and countryside, churches, castles, and villages. Visit the riverside village of Sankt Goar (08:31) and experience the medieval castle Marksburg (08:47). Leave the Rhine at Koblenz (09:45), where you can enjoy a performance of the opera The Merry Widow before heading on to Rothenburg. On the way, stop at Frankfurt—or fly to the city (11:34)—and enjoy a comfortable stay at the Frankfurt Intercontinental Hotel (11:46). Continue on to Rothenburg along the autobahn (12:06), taking in rural Germany (12:28) with its old castles and buildings. Rothenburg (13:08) is a romantic city with ancient walls and ramparts, where people live in beautiful houses that line cobblestone streets. Shops and boutique hotels make Rothenburg a great place to spend a few days. From Rothenburg, head south for a visit to Germany’s famous Black Forest (15:15). Then travel through the rolling farmland framed by spectacular mountains (16:00). The rivers here are home to excellent fishing (16:18). Stop at Lake Constance (16:52) and the resort city of Lindau for sailing, boating, swimming, water skiing, and pure relaxation. The fine cuisine in Lindau is only matched by the scenery. The next stop is the snow-capped peaks (18:51) of southern Germany, with world-class downhill skiing (19:15) at the famous resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen (20:10) in the Bavarian Alps. No trip to Germany is complete without a visit to Munich (20:20), the capital of Bavaria. Bustling streets, fountains, shops, and more make this modern city a memorable stop on any itinerary. Walk around the city and admire its buildings and museums. Oktoberfest (21:13) is the highlight for any visitor who visits during the festival. Singing, traditional dancing (23:21), drinking, and parades (22:37) make this festival one of world’s best. The film concludes with a montage of shots from earlier scenes, recapping the year-round sights and activities of a trip to Germany.
