Listen to his stories about working on the shuttle's Solid Rocket Booster parachutes and the Orbiter drag chutes. His commentary is accompanied by many photos and a number of actual artifacts. He includes fascinating details about how the parachute systems functioned, and how they were cleaned, inspected, repaired and re-packed. He shares photos and descriptions of the amazing Parachute Refurbishment Facility (PRF) at Kennedy Space Center. He also talks about drop tests, failures, and lessons learned. For Ares he worked on the First Stage Booster recovery chutes. Ty worked at the KSC Parachute Refurbishment Facility from 2003 to 2012 as a Design and Operations Engineer for United Space Alliance. Ty is an FAA licensed Matter Parachute Rigger as well as a licensed Skydiver with over 2000 skydives. He currently works for United Parachute Technologies (UPT).
