(Forster also hosted a radio show and wrote a book with the same name.) This episode from 1974 is a lengthy interview with Golda Meir, the fourth prime minister of Israel from 1969 to 1974. Meir was Israel's first (and to date only) female head of government and the first in the Middle East. The interview highlights Meir's vision for Israel as a secure, culturally rich, and just society, contributing positively to the global community. The interview covers various topics, including: Israel's 25th Anniversary: Reflecting on the significance of Israel's establishment and its impact on Jews worldwide., Jewish Identity: Discussing why Jews feel at home in Israel and the importance of a Jewish state for self-expression and cultural preservation., Immigration: Addressing Israel's commitment to accepting Jewish immigrants from around the world, regardless of their origin., Role in the World: Meir emphasizes that Israel's primary goal is to be a Jewish state rather than a model for other nations, though she hopes it can be a positive example., Anti-Semitism: Despite the establishment of Israel, anti-Semitism persists globally, which is a disappointment for Meir., Future Aspirations: Meir expresses hopes for peace, security, and cooperation in the region and a world without wars, envisioning a society with equality and opportunities for all., Arnold Forster (1913-2010) was an attorney who fought against anti-Semitism and extremism and advocated for civil rights and the State of Israel in a career spanning nearly 60 years at ADL. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k.
