This video contains various Aurora Borealis sequences recorded with a special, ultrasensitive color TV camera at the Poker Flat Research Range north of Fairbanks, Alaska, for NASA & NSF research. The only sound is music from Symphony in Ursa Major , performed by the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gordon Wright. Originally produced in 1985; this is the 2nd edition from 1986. A 25-page pamphlet on the aurora is included. Produced for the Aurora Color Television Project by Neal Brown, Tom Hallinan, and Dan Osborne of the Geophysical Institute, University of Alaska–Fairbanks. This VHS videocassette was sold commercially in the 1980s and 1990s, with proceeds supporting research and education. Digitized to Lagarith AVI and transcoded to H.264 MP4 in 2020. See also the sequel, of sorts: The Aurora Explained . Date: 1986 Mirrored from Internet Archive: https://archive.org/details/aurora.1986
