<description>How does NASA capture such incredible launch video? The American Space Museum presents "The Launch Cameras of NASA", an ASM edited compilation from 3 "Extras" on NASA's "Ascent" DVD. DEDICATED TO the space program workers behind the cameras and DVD. Content Guide... Watch cameramen filming shuttle launches sitting on huge multi-camera tracking platforms. Don't miss that the cameras taking this video shake from the launch shockwaves., Info and title slides., A guide to where most of the cameras are., Photos of the impressive equipment (and storage facilities) with commentary., Closing info slides., Why this Compilation? Most folks no longer seek out DVDs. The "Ascent" DVD main features can be found online but these camera ones seem overlooked. Also, those producing the DVD deserve to be recognized! This video should help answer these questions... What equipment does NASA use to take launch videos and photos from the ground? (You will be amazed at the size of some lenses and telescopes!), Where is the equipment located and what does it support?, What else has the equipment been used for? (Hint: Trying to see a satellite crash into the moon.), See a few of the many workers who make the system work and who created the awesome DVD., ORIGINAL SOURCE: These extras from NASA's awesome "Ascent" DVD... Behind the Cameras, The Cameras of ASCENT, Credits ( Thanks for the DVD! ), EDITING: ASM takes no credit for the main material. Thanks to those who produced it! However, it did take quite some time to get the result we wanted. We spliced the 3 extras together, shortened a few slides that extended way past the dialog, blended the audio at those points, and added title and info slides. We hope we did it justice. Compiled and edited by Bruce L. Jacobs for The American Space Museum (Bruce retired from 34 years in the Space Shuttle Program and now volunteers at the museum.)
