(:07). This episode opens with a decoration ceremony at the 9th Infantry Division headquarters in Camp Dong Tam. Soldiers receive decorations (:27) in ceremony; a cameraman snaps photographs in the background. A close shot shows the Marines handed Vietnamese Gallantry Cross medals and a salute (:48). Another close shot shows the medals, many with gold and silver stars (1:20). Soldiers stand at attention (1:25). More medals are passed down the line (2:06). An officer reads the names of the decorated (2:17). A two star general(3:26). Female Army personnel, possibly office staff or nurses, are seen -- we haven't been able to ID the patch on their shoulders (3:44). A wide shot shows the expanse of the brigade and the camp grounds in the background (3:49). Two camera combat troops converse with cameras slung around their necks (3:53). Officers deliver speeches at the podium (4:11). Press reporters extend microphones to record the ceremony (4:55). A conductor guides the brass band (5:18). An Army jeep runs by the base (6:00). Commanding officers exit the Headquarters of the 9th Infantry Division (6:07). Flags are snapped, raised and pointed vertically as they exit. Officers salute at the podium (6:21) and the 9th infantry salutes back (6:21). Marines deliver speeches (6:47). Camera men rush to capture the ceremony (6:54). Photographs are snapped as more medals are passed out (7:00). Two star Gen. John Nicholas McLaughlin (?) is pictured (7:07). McLaughlin was a highly decorated officer of the US Marine Corps.  Colonel Hansen of the USAF receives decoration (7:13). More medals are passed down the line (7:48). Press record the ceremony (7:56). A close shot shows a medal stuck to an African American soldier's lapel (8:12). The film concludes with shaky bleached out footage as it appears the camera was dropped and picked back up (8:40).  The Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross also known as the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross or Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (Vietnamese: Anh-Dũng Bội-Tinh) is a military decoration of the former Government of South Vietnam (Republic of Vietnam). The medal was created on August 15, 1950, and was awarded to military personnel, civilians, and Armed Forces units and organizations in recognition of deeds of valor or heroic conduct while in combat with the enemy. Individuals who received the medal, ribbon, and a citation were personally cited at the Armed Forces, Corps, Division, Brigade or Regiment level. The Republic of Vietnam authorized members of units and organizations that were cited, to wear the Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Emblem with Palm and Frame (no medal is authorized) Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
