<description>BEAUTY FOR KEEPS is a 29 minute long S.C Johnson Advertisement film produced during the 1950's by Wildling Productions, for the S.C Johnson &amp; Son's Corporation, that features some rare views of Frank Lloyd Wright's famous headquarters building. It was shot predominately on location at a local college campus used for the film. It was directed by J.M Constable, written by Charles Cromer, and stars Jo Ann Carter as Doris, John Clark as her boyfriend Frank, and Dora Clement as the Mother who talks about the various products shown in the film. The film itself is focused predominately on the application, production, and historical facts surrounding the use of Wax in our every day lives, and how it can be used for a variety of different things. The film opens up on the fictional college campus of Colton College. Among the students are two of the main characters who are seen through the film. Doris, and her boyfriend Frank. Doris, it turns out, is unable to work to pay for her college tuition. All of the local places that are hiring are looking for full-time, and she can't work full-time and pay for her college education, dismayed that she might have to leave and wait to finish her education another time. Frank on the other hand offers various different suggestions, all of which are shot down, including one to where they'll marry and he'll support her. The only way for Doris to continue her education is to win a scholarship from a local Home Economic essay that awards a cash prize to the winner. However she's reluctant to choose any topic that's been done before. Suddenly, an apple falls from the tree above, and Frank gets an idea. What if Doris wrote an essay on Wax, and it's properties for keeping things clean, shiny, and beautiful? Doris agrees, and her and Frank go to meet a Professor at the College (Charles Egleston) and from there learn a little bit of Wax's history. Doris asks if there were any applications that Wax had now, and the Professor says he's unsure, as he's a Professor of history. From there, Frank informs Doris he knows someone who might be able to help, his Mother who's a brilliant home maker. They go to Franks home to talk with his Mother (as played by Dora Clement), and she informs them of the various different S.C Johnson home products that she has, and how to use them, and why. Afterwards, Frank and Doris go to the S.C Johnson Wax Building, which is famously designed by Architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1936. It is here where wax is produced, and they go to speak with a Chemist (played by Wally Seitz) about not only its history, but what makes up Wax. The Chemist then informs the duo what wax is, and where it comes from. Informing them both that it's found mostly in nature. From the general "bee's wax" that's predominately used, to the sort of wax you can find used in animals and animal products (such as a discussion on how animals use it to keep themselves clean, and water proofed). Then he goes on to explain how the products are made, and what constitutes proper wax for home usage as opposed to using just oil to keep things bright, and lustrous. Especially in one segment where he showed, using talcum powder, how oil simply accumulates the dust as opposed to simply letting it slide away. The film ends on a good note however when Doris, now having all of the material she needs, writes an award-winning essay and wins the scholarship award for all the information that she gathered throughout the film. Having now secured her education, Frank and Doris walk the same path as seen in the opening of the film in good spirits, rest under the same apple tree, and end the film with a kiss.
