It features footage of a trip to Colorado in November 1942, and also footage shot in summer of 1944 through what might be early 1945. This includes a cameo appearance by Gen. Henry "Hap" Arnold at the Rose Bowl. Other featured locations include Colorado's Garden of the Gods, along with other nearby attractions such as the Broadmoor Hotel on Cheyenne Mountain Road and the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. The 1944 section shows California, showcasing views of the Mission San Juan Capistrano Museum and its lush garden in San Juan Capistrano, as well as scenes from Laguna Beach, Balboa, and Will Rogers State Historic Park in the Santa Monica Mountains in Los Angeles. Throughout the footage, uniformed soldiers are featured, and it seems likely the film was shot by an officer. 00:00 Garden of the Gods - Manitou Springs, Colorado (00:08). Sunset sky (00:19). For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you.
