The film contrastsacceptable  everyday crutches such as coffee and nicotine and then continues with abusers telling their stories about their relationship with drugs and addiction. Beth comes home (05:53) and strolls around the ho use alone (06:06). She is driving with her friend, Billy (06:12).  Billy picks up Beth (06:22). They look through a telescope (06:25). They look bored sitting on Billy’s car (06:38). Beth sits with her parents at their dining table (06:48). Her and Billy smoke a joint in Billy’s car (07:02). Beth lays on her bed (07:26). She eats breakfast with her parents (07:35). Beth’s school (07:40). Beth and Billy smoke marijuana at school (07:52). Beth dancing (08:03). At a party Beth’s friend, Joan, is sick on the floor (08:13). Her friend, Larry, attempts helping Joan (08:17). Billy becomes mad and starts a fight with Larry (08:21), and then attacks Beth (08:25). Beth runs home crying (08:33). She confesses her addiction to her parents (08:44). They go inside (09:00). The reporter introduces Frank, an alcoholic (09:06). Frank speaks about his addiction (09:23). He eats lunch in a restaurant with his receptionist, Mellie (09:49). Mellie hands her daughter to a babysitter (10:23) and goes out with Frank (10:33). They’re at a dinner party, having drinks (10:37). They have drinks in a bar (10:53). Views of Frank in his office (10:57). Mellie cooked dinner for Frank (11:15). They arrive at a bar (12:01). He meets a man wanting to buy heroin (15:10). Max is laying down, high on heroin (15:40). He buys drugs from a dealer (15:46). Max admits himself to a hospital to seek help (15:52). He suffers from withdrawal (15:59). He leaves the hospital off drugs (16:15). He starts working at a gas station (16:22). Max gets angry at his employer (16:35). He does heroin again (16:47).
