It depicts a variety of situations where youth may come in contact with drugs, including prescription drugs. The film explores the proper use of drugs as administered by a doctor or at home. It specifically targets situations children would likely experience. The film also boasts the need for a rich and healthy life to keep youth from getting into trouble. It was directed by Hans Halberstadt and produced by Barr Films. Opening scenes include a scenario in which a woman and child visit the doctor’s office over a sore throat (:21). The doctor checks the boy’s throat with a tongue depressor (:38). He then dictates the proper medication and dosage to the mother of the boy (1:16). A span of varying prescription medicines follows with names such as Maalox (1:26), Compazine, Thorazine and Promazine (1:40). Multiple ways of consuming the medication is shown including using a needle (1:58), by drinking a liquid form of the medication (2:08) or simply by taking a pill (2:10). Ointments (2:20) and nasal sprays (2:25) are other ways of administering medications. Alcohol is also a drug as it is a mind-altering substance (2:35). A young girl is pictured lying in bed with a thermometer in her mouth (2:35). The mother checks the child’s temperature showing it to be over 100 degrees (3:00). The mother gives the girl a single dosage of aspirin and leaves the room (3:30). Unfortunately, the mother had left the bottle of aspirin within the young girl’s reach (3:30). The girl then takes the entire bottle of aspirin (3:46). Once in hospital, doctors inform her she will have to be forced throw up with another type of medication in order to remove the drug from her system. Another youth is seen snooping around in his parent’s medicine cabinet (4:43). He inspects the bottles choosing to take something from one of them (8:47). The film asks viewers to stop and question whether or not the decisions they make are wise or not specifically related to the youth. Peer pressure on the school yard is depicted (5:58). The biggest danger of taking random drugs from strangers is the ignorance as far as what exactly it is being taken and what kind of damage it may do to the body. Examples of youth participating in healthy, happy lives follow (7:23). A car show is pictured with black Ford Model T’s riding down the streets (7:53). Other positive uses of time shown include sports (8:24), making baked goods with friends, as well as artistic endeavors (8:35).
