        <description>ASM EXCLUSIVE - NEVER BEFORE PUBLISHED: 2003 interview with the LEGENDARY John Talmadge "Tal" Webb. He was a mechanical engineer who  worked for multiple government sub-contractors on the Thor Missile, Atlas Missile, Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Apollo-Soyez, SkyLab, Spacelab, Delta Missile, and Space Shuttle programs. He shares a number of interesting stories! For  Example, he remembers... Gordon Cooper and Wally Schirra racing corvettes down the beach road., Wally Schirra playing a joke on the launch team. For one mission, he got to the pad elevator to take him up to the capsule. Instead of entering the elevator, he put his hands across the door and said "I'm not going"., Tal's Background... In 1959, Tal graduated from the University of Florida with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went to work in the space program. The contractors he worked for include Douglas Aircraft, General Dynamics, McDonnell / McDonnell Douglas, Rockwell, and United Space Alliance. He moved up the engineering ranks from Engineer to Engineering Supervisor to Engineering Manager. He then moved to Operations as a Test Conductor, then a Director. Tal ended his career as Director of Ground Support Operations for United Space Alliance on the Shuttle program. ==== An ORIGINAL production of The American Space Museum, Titusville, FL.
