It stars Margaret Firth demonstrating exercises assisted by Marlene Cornall. The film is directed by Bruce Bilson, photographed by Mack Stengler, edited by Walter S. Stern. This historic TV show -- apparently one of the first exercise classes for women ever televised -- portrays an old-fashioned approach to women’s exercise, weight-loss, and dieting. Credits (00:06). Margaret introduced the warm up; ‘Bend and Bob’ (00:51). She firstly relaxes her shoulders (01:00). Then she stands her feet wider apart (01:10). She begins stretching hands over her head (01:21). She bends forward and touches the floor twice (01:41) and stretches her hands back up over her head (01:45). She repeats the ‘Bend and Bob’ warm-up exercise (01:47). Her assistant Marlene joins Margaret (01:57). They repeat the ‘Bend and Bob’ warm-up exercise (02:06). Margaret instructs the viewer to shake their arms and feet along with her and Marline (02:44). She then gives instructions for circling the shoulders (02:51), then the head (02:53). Margaret then introduces the start of the work-out (02:57). A poster on an easel demonstrates the first exercise ‘double-arm swing’ (03:50). Margaret shows the next poster demonstrating the ‘high-kick’ exercise (03:32). She shows the next poster demonstrating the ‘sit-ups’ exercise (03:49). Margaret steps away from the easel (04:27).She shakes her arms (04:33).and begins the ‘double-arm swing’ exercise (04:38). Her assistant Marlene joins Margaret (05:11). They do the ‘double-arm swing’ exercise together in two sets of eight repetitions (05:18). Margaret instructs the viewer to shake their arms (06:08) and circle the shoulders (06:11). Margaret introduces the ‘high-kick’ exercise (06:22). She pulls out a chair (06:29). Marlene stands behind the chair back and Margaret places one knee on the seat of the chair (06:32). Marlene swings her leg up to demonstrate how to do the ‘high-kick’ exercise (06:43). Marlene steps to the other side and repeats the exercise with the other leg (07:21). Marlene repeats the exercise on both legs (07:34). Margaret instructs the viewer to shake their legs and push the chair aside (08:08). Margaret instructs the viewer on how to properly sit down and Marlene demonstrates (08:20). Margaret gives instructions on how to do the ‘sit-ups’ exercise and Marlene demonstrates firstly the modified version with bent legs (08:32). Then she demonstrates the advanced version of the exercise with the legs flat against the floor (10:00). Margaret instructs the viewer to hold and take a deep breath and to repeat the exercise (10:24). Marlene demonstrates (10:35). Margaret announces the end of the exercise session (10:56).
