<description>Originally created by National Educational Television in the early 1960s or late 1950s, this episode of "The American Business System" takes a look at the flow of cash in the business system and financial management. At the same time the film provides fascinating insights into the history of the NCR Corporation and shows some of its factory in Dayton, Ohio in the late 1950s. The film is hosted by Jack Winn and shot in Dayton, Ohio, home to the National Cash Register company at that time. NCR products are seen throughout the film including a register at :26. As an example business the film shows a restaurant called Der Golden Schwan, owned by the Suttmiller family (4:20). At 4:29 some of the stock of meat at the company is shown and at 4:42, the kitchen. At 7:36 the African-American and white kitchen staff is seen hard at work. At 8:00 the National Cash Register Company's headquarters is seen, with rare footage of the manufacture of adding machines and computers. CEO Stanley Lang is seen at 8:49. At 9:27, a punch card sorter is shown, part of an NCR computer system equipped with magnetic ink readers. At 10:00, early data processing computers are shown, and at 10:10 fantastic images of punch cards being sorted and read. At 10:50, a woman is shown wiring an early NCR computer. At 13:18, a tape based computer is shown being loaded. At 13:25 an early mainframe computer is shown in operation. At 15:50, in order to raise money on the equity financing model, images are shown of Wall Street and the stock exchange where NCR stock is shown. At 17:58, a discussion of stock holding and equity financing vs. other forms of financing such as issuing bonds. At 24:35, new NCR printing systems are shown. At 26:00, George Burke of the Burke Fuel Company of Hawthorne, New York is shown, and some of his fuel oil trucks shown. At 26:20 some of the methods of calculating fuel demand are shown. NCR Corporation (originally National Cash Register) is an American computer hardware, software and electronics company that makes self-service kiosks, point-of-sale terminals, automated teller machines, check processing systems, barcode scanners, and business consumables. They also provide IT maintenance support services. NCR had been based in Dayton, Ohio, starting in 1884, but in June 2009 the company sold most of the Dayton properties and moved its headquarters to the Atlanta metropolitan area in unincorporated Gwinnett County, Georgia, near Duluth and Alpharetta.[4][5] In early January 2018, the new NCR Global Headquarters opened in Midtown Atlanta near Technology Square (adjacent to the Georgia Institute of Technology).
