It shows the military campaigns of 1944 in Europe and against Japan, with the United States and its Allies beginning to reverse the Fascist aggressors' progress on all fronts. The episode begins with images in Italy of the horrific mud that halted U.S. and British forces advancing towards Rome. Meanwhile, General Eisenhower plans the D-Day invasion of Normandy, with enormous volumes of supplies put into position for the assault. Aerial bombing of Germany and Occupied France is seen at the 10:30 mark, with Allied staff including General Omar Braldey planning the campaign. The D-Day landings including Omaha Beach are shown at the 14 minute mark. The on-going air campaign is seen reaching a new climax at the 16:30 mark, with P-38 Lightnings accompanying bombers deep into Europe. The drive towards Paris is seen at the 18 minute mark, with tanks and infantry driving across France. Patton's Third Army is seen at the 20:50 mark, with the 1st Army flanking the 3rd and the 7th moving swiftly up from the South. Paris is seen liberated at the 21:20 mark. The fall of Toulon is seen at 22:45, with the British and Canadians liberating Antwerp, and the British and American armies link up as many German soldiers surrender.
