Made in Spring and Summer of 1978, on the heels of conflict in South Lebanon and just before the Camp David Accords, the film sheds light on the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict and the lives of Palestinians refugees in camps across Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. Specifically, the film touches on the important question of Palestinian identity and the right to statehood. Part 1 of the two-part film, this portion of the film focuses on the erasure of Palestinian identity and education and economy in the refugee camps. This film notably features interviews with important academics like Dr. Constantin Zurayk, Dr. Sari Nassir, and Dr. Edward Said as well as with Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) leader Yasser Arafat.
