Little is known about them except that they were apparently members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS), the second-largest denomination in the Latter Day Saint movement — now known as the Community of Christ. The film begins with shots of a man, woman, girl and dog emerging from a house, followed by a shot of the man, woman and a girl posing for the camera with a second woman. At 1:21, the man is shown feeding a horse a carrot. A 2:12, two couples pose in a rural location or national park. At 3:19, a mission style home or apartment is shown, probably in Southern California, followed at 3:55 with a typical ranch style house. At 4:44, firefighters are seen atop a house that is on fire. A trailer is visible at the fire scene. At 5:25, a Western Airlines DC-4 airplane tail # NC10205 is shown with passengers boarding. At 6:25, an American Airlines DC-6 flagship is shown at an airport with red-white-and-blue bunting visible on a scaffolding in front of the plane -- possibly an inaugural flight? At 6:50 a group of people poses at a resort or motel called the Crestview. At 7;25 a marina is shown. At 7:51 the Fun Zone Boat Ride in Newport Bay, Newport Beach, California is shown. At 8:14, a baby is shown to the camera by someone who appears to be the grandma. At 8:30, a large picnic with dozens of people in attendance. At 9:06 ice cream is shared by a couple of young ladies. At 9:24 one of them sits and waves at the camera while at 9:34 two kids enjoy their ice cream cones. The film has a long segment starting at 9:55 that shows the exterior of an RLDS temple, with the entire congregation gathering on the steps for the cameraman. A sign at 9:59 mentions G. E. Tickemyer, who may have been the priest or bishop active at that time; he may be the man visible at (13:20) greeting everyone at the door of the temple. At (12:35) the family poses for the camera. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k.
