This film is only one part of what must have been a longer travelogue; unfortunately the other segments of it are apparently lost to history. The film gives a good idea of the experiences a wealthy tourist might have had in this era, visiting Tasmania, New South Wales and Melbourne, and New Guinea. Title: Around The World By The Southern Hemisphere 1927 (:07). Title: Leaving Launceston Tasmania, crossing Bass Strait, approaching Melbourne, Australia, leaving for Sydney (:14). People wave and follow alongside a boat as it starts to leave (:22). Ocean waters as seen from the deck of the ship (:37). Alongside other boats as the ship comes into a harbor (2:02). Men in hats ride a trolley car along Spencer Street (2:18). People at a train station (2:32). Title: Carlotta Arch, wallabies in Jenolan Caves, Blue Mountains, New South Wales (2:51). Boats and ships on the water (5:11). Man in a pith helmet greets the new arrivals. Sailboats, ships, tugboats on the water (5:50). Title: Landing at New Guinea Papuan Village, Hanubada Native Dances, Port Moresby (6:24). Arriving on a boat in New Guinea, passing by a group of small villages (6:33). Papuan people in their village. Among the natives is a well dressed white man (7:00). Natives walk around their village (7:30). A villager climbs a tree (7:48). The natives continue to dance (10:38). Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
