"Tol" Pendleton, an oil man and former All-American football player from Princeton, and his partner, F.M. Dougherty. In the 1950s, wealthy Easterner Doris Oesting bought the ranch and converted it into a dude ranch with a pool. It became a "hangout" for many people in the movie business including John Wayne and Stewart Granger. It still exists to this day. Tumacácori National Historical Park was declared a National Monument by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908. The park served as the original shooting location for the film, “Duel in the Sun,” directed by King Vidor in 1946, the same year this home movie was filmed.
