This one provides views of Banff National Park in the mid-to-late 1940s. It was photographed by J.L. Cook. The film begins with shots of the railroad station and grand Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, and then shows wildlife including deer and bears. At 1:45, a ski lift is shown transporting visitors up the mountain, and then continues with shots of the hotel including pool area. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction.
