A woman controls an elevator. Women do conductor jobs for the railroads since the men are at war. A woman is captain of her own river barge. Some women get into canoes and use their paddles, the women fall backwards into the water. Women's suffrage bill goes through Congress and becomes 19th Amendment. Women have won the right to vote, women talk and congregate, and run for office. At 3:26, Annie Arniel, a woman's suffragist who was jailed, is shown. Annie played a key role in helping to win the women's vote in the United States Princess Red Bird, the representative for her Native Americans (5:42). Also known by her Lakota name Zitkála-Šá or Gertrude Simmons Bonnin, she was a Yankton Dakota writer, editor, translator, musician, educator, and political activist. (:37-3:44). Robinson, of 'Little Caesar' movie fame, walks down the beach with three women. George Eastman, inventor of Kodak and Kodak film, stands and poses (3:45-6:30). Title: 1933 - Gale Rips Gulf City. 1933, Corpus Christi, TX and high water is everywhere along with hurricane force winds. Houses are flooded, people cannot keep up with it. Town is destroyed. Cars drive through water. Title: 1934 - Stradivari. John Dubbs plays a Stradivarius violin. Stradivari was the greatest violin maker who ever lived. Various violins are shown being made. Title: 1933 - Vacation for Roosevelt, President Elect. February 5, 1933, FDR is the President elect, he waves at people. Children wave at him. He leaves on a boat. Title: 1922 - Aviation. Torpedo squadron. A torpedo is placed on a plane. Planes fly across the water and drop torpedoes as a test. Title: 1928 - Fashions of the Day. Chicago 1928, Chicago's women are putting makeup on. Women have manicures and have their hair done. A woman has her head shampooed (6:31-10:47). Title: 1925 - Sports. November 20, 1925, NYC Central Park, on a frozen pond, Clas Thunberg skates. He was in the olympics in 1924 for Finland. He skates fast around the frozen pond. Bowling, 1930, Mrs. R.J. McCutchen, best woman bowler of her time. She bowls and gets the pins. She beats men as well. She rolls the ball and gets a strike (10:48-12:09). Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
