He also mentions that he was originally assigned to Apollo 13 but got moved to 14. Later, during the Apollo 13 rescue, Ed worked on simulations and procedures for using the Lunar Module as a Lifeboat, while Ken Mattingley worked on them for the Command Module emergency re-entry phase. NOTE: Ed was a long time friend and supporter of our museum and our Space Walk of Fame monuments. Sadly he passed away February 4, 2016 at age 85.
