In this video I demonstrate a simple tool I created for hand winding large springs which are useful for many different projects, and notoriously hard to find. You can go further to even out the tension by tempering the springs after they have been wound by heating them in an oven at 400 - 500 Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or so. Here is a calculator that can be used to determine what wire and winding pitch to use for specific spring tensions and other various traits: http://www.efunda.com/designstandards/springs/calc_comp_designer.cfm#calc #NightHawkInLight -~--~--~- Check out my latest video: "How To View Invisible Air Currents With Lasers" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K94Cc21KEIA -~--~--~-
