Eye shooting refers to firing at targets at close range and aiming by sight. The film was produced and photographed by Technicolor LTD in collaboration with HMS Excellent (:19). An observer aims his binoculars (:44). British anti-aircraft gunners and artillerymen aim a 90mm cannon and give it a blow (1:01). Army long range gunners move into firing position (1:03). The group utilize predictors and other instruments in order to help issues with wind direction during firing (1:13). An 80 mm flak gun (1:15) is used in demonstration. Targets puff like white clouds in the sky (1:23). A segment details how to engage aircraft targets at short ranges, within 2000 yards (1:34). Gunners squeeze rounds off (1:53) as the aircraft swings in. Explosions erupt in the water (2:02). Gunners celebrate after taking the hit (2:50). An animation / cartoon of a boy throwing snow at a moving target; a man on a bicycle, is used to further explain where to aim (3:12). The butcher boy reacts after a miss fire (4:10). He approaches as the young boy fires again, simulating angry air to ship warfare (4:17). A diagram again shows where to aim when engaging a moving target (4:54). Another animation shows an archer (5:09) targeting a moving deer and birds in flight (5:26). A gunner aims a Gatling blaster (5:36). A gunner spins an anti-aircraft gun into firing position (5:39). An animation shows a plane approaching from various positions (5:55) and where to aim. A Junkers Ju 87 (6:42) appears. The boy tosses a snowball (6:50) knocking a cyclist from his ride. He aims for a slower paced target (7:02). Another animation explains time of flight (7:22).  Range of fire is discussed using two crafts at varying speeds (9:00). The anti-aircraft gun closes the film (9:43). This film was completed in Technicolor (9:49).  Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k.
