2005-06-07 A couple months after my first EM4102 implant in my left hand, I got a HITAG S 2048 in my right hand. We used an animal syringe (Avid), ejected the pet chip, put the HITAG chip in, autoclaved the whole thing, then installed. My family doctor performed the installation. You can see he's not wearing gloves, and this is when I learned that doctors wear gloves mainly to protect them from you, not the other way around. Since he knew I wasn't carrying any infectious illnesses, he was fine doing it without standard gloves, which aren't sterile anyway - hence they are to protect the medical professional, not you. For procedures that require them, sterile gloves are worn and those are for your protection. It's why they are sterile, and require a special process for putting them on and keeping them sterile.
