We believe it dates to 1929. It begins with a shot at :13 of the Hollywood Bowl, followed at :32 with a shot of the Hollywoodland / Hollywood sign and Lake Hollywood. At :39, views of downtown Hollywood. At :52, a statue of Tenjin reading on the back of an ox, Bernheimer Gardens, Pacific Palisades. At :55, shots of the Bernheimer Gardens including Asian inspired buildings. At 1:31, shots of Santa Monica Beach including the Pacific Park pier. At 1:47, shots from the beach of the eroded palisade. At 2:04, a shot of the UCLA -- University of California -- campus with a great deal of empty natural land evident in Westwood. At 2:10, shots of horses and an estate with the initials "BJ" on the gate. The Bernheimer Gardens were 8-acre 20th-century formal gardens in California in the United States that showcased a private collection of bronze statues from Asia. The gardens were open to the public at in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, below what is now the Sunset Highlands neighborhood, from 1928 until 1944. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD, 2k and 4k.
