Each segment features an array of stock footage completed with Hawthorne's trademark rolling droll and spit-fire dry humor. It’s sprinkled with early aviation flying machine spoofs featuring a fake pilot inventor ‘Irving Flap’. The shorts were used as interstitials during the early years of television history. Hawthorne's career began in Denver at the KXLA station in 1947. Later, he landed in La with the KLAC station. He created a pioneering evening TV talk show 'The Hawthorne Thing'. This was later looked at as the early predecessor to Saturday Night Live. While working for KFWB, he joined Sherman Greenberg Productions as a producer, writer and narrator.
