The full film can be seen elsewhere on our channel at https://youtu.be/MbplgiQZBeY This segment shows roughly the last 10 minutes of the film, showing how the Wall Street crash of 1929, which took place on "Black Tuesday" -- October 29, 1929 -- put an exclamation point on the end of a tumultuous decade. Henry Ford turns out his 15th million car, then celebrates by sitting in the first car he ever made (:56). (1:23) a locomotive is shipped overseas. At (1:34), work on Europe's war debts. President Coolidge signs the Kellogg-Briand Pact, an agreement to outlaw war signed in 1928. At (2:01) the 1928 presidential race pits Al Smith — against Herbert Hoover (2:57). People pack into Times Square on election night (3:05). Hoover wins and rides to the Capitol for the swearing in ceremony (3:41). The film shows more scenes of American revelry: beach goers enjoying sun and sand (5:09); Arthur Hammerstein, Irene Castle, and Helen Morgan enjoy coastal Florida life; spectators take in a fashion parade (6:09); people dancing the Charleston; and the bright lights of Times Square (7:12) and Broadway beckon men and women to enjoy the nightlife. However, the carefree fun crashes to an end with the collapse of Wall Street (9:13), leading to panic and the Great Depression, ending the golden playtime of the 1920s.
