<description>“Skyline New York” is a circa 1955 TWA travel film encouraging vacationers to visit the Big Apple. Produced by Dudley Pictures Corporation, the color picture offers a tour of New York City in late 1954 as two teenage girls travel to NYC on vacation aboard a TWA Lockheed Constellation. “You can fly coast to coast in only eight hours!” one of the girls tells her parents at mark 01:56. They fly over the Grand Canyon (mark 03:25) and enjoy a massive lunch before flying over Manhattan (mark 04:20) and landing at Idlewild International Airport at mark 04:40. (The airport was renamed John F. Kennedy International Airport following the president’s assassination). On a boat ride around Manhattan the girls see the city’s waterfront and the Statue of Liberty at mark 06:15 before stopping at Castle Clinton in Battery Park and visiting the New York Stock Exchange and Wall Street (mark 07:11). Passing beneath the Brooklyn Bridge and past the United Nations (mark 08:10), the film takes us inside and we learn of the General Assembly before continuing the trip on the Hudson River and passing under the George Washington Bridge. Other stops include Midtown (mark 09:51) and 5th Avenue with visits to various stores including Tiffany &amp; Company (mark 11:26). At mark 12:03 we see the famed bronze Atlas statue in front of Rockefeller Center and hit the top of the RCA Building before seeing the Empire State Building at mark 14:45 as it rises more than 1,400 feet above the ground. St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the gothic design of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine Church are next, followed by Coney Island at mark 16:15 (including a ride on the Cyclone rollercoaster). They visit Central Park, the zoo, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (mark 20:20) as the camera shows some of the paintings and other artwork on display at the Met. The camera captures the action at Radio City Music Hall (mark 21:25), Yankee Stadium (mark 21:39), and Belmont Park. At mark 23:00 the film takes its viewer to Madison Square Garden for glimpses of a hockey game and boxing match until the film concludes with a visit to the bright lights of Times Square at mark 23:37. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example: "01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference."
