<description>This compilation of aircraft related home movies spans thirty to forty years in aircraft development and includes materials from home movies, professional films, and other sources. It begins with footage of a Boeing 247 at an airfield in Illinois, home to the 33rd Division Aviation branch (:10). At :45 seconds you will see an extremely odd, tiny home-built aircraft take off and crash catastrophically (looks like it could be fatal). As far as we know this is the first time this material has been seen publicly. At 1:40, an amphibious airplane called a Republic SeeBee. At 10:22 the Cincinnati Airport is seen in the 1940s. A P-47 WWII training aircraft or prototype is seen at 12:56. At 15:40 Mt. Fuji is seen from the air, Pan Am airplanes are seen at Hawaii at 15:30, as well as a Western Airlines jet landing at 16:40 at LAX. At 20:25 a DC-3 operated by Aviateca is seen…at and 22:50 a Lockheed Constellation in Lufthansa livery taxies to a halt. A Northwest DC-6 is seen at 25:00. An aircraft cockpit on a big passenger airliner is seen at 31:45. At 35:32 a Goodyear Blimp is seen. At 41:47 a terrible crash scene is shown, with the wreckage of a passenger plane still on fire. This plane was Capital Airlines N7410, which crashed May 20, 1958 after a mid-air collision with a military jet aircraft at Brunswick, Maryland. There's a tremendous amount to go through…your help is needed identifying the aircraft in this reel! Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed. We collect, scan and preserve 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have films you'd like to have scanned or donate to Periscope Film, we'd love to hear from you. Contact us via the link below. This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD and 2k.
