It’s a meaty dog food and chicken wing time slide fit to send any 1970’s babies to the shag rug carpeted floors of their youth. Slogans and jingles of popular commercials slop to our minds reverberating subconsciously into the very fabric of our culture and society. Whether it be health or recreation, corporations play a major role in daily life. Kellogg and Hoover are household names. Signs and colors of trade mark companies resonate feelings of the American home. Hoover for example; perfected and established such phenomenal advertising tactics their name became synonymous with their product. Everyone knows a Hoover is a vacuum and the red logo is logged permanently in mental membranes. Through comparison with the modern television rotation we can see which brands made it out of the 1970’s and which went defunct such as Kal Kan Dog Food; swallowed up by Pedigree). Celebrities make cameos; Jack Nicklaus, OJ Simpson, Charlton Heston, Frank Perdue and the ever popular Aunt Bluebell (Mae Questel) for Scotts Towel. Viewers see fashion of the era; happy ladies wear Kiana Tunics. 00:00 red suited and blonde bobbed babe readying her daily caloric intake with Special K Kellogg cereal paired with skim milk for the light and fit look (:13). For almost two decades, we've worked to collect, scan and preserve the world as it was captured on 35mm, 16mm and 8mm movies -- including home movies, industrial films, and other non-fiction. If you have endangered films you'd like to have scanned, or wish to donate celluloid to Periscope Film so that we can share them with the world, we'd love to hear from you.
