It was directed by Robert "Bob" Taylor, a Hollywood legend who starred in over 80 films including "Waterloo Bridge" and "Bataan". Taylor was given the rank of a lieutenant in the Naval Reserves and was active as a flight instructor during the war. The other star in this and the other films in the series (which include "Before You Fly", "First Flight", "Take-Offs", "Landings" and "Racetrack Patterns") is the Stearman N2S trainer, aka "The Yellow Peril." This two-seat biplane represented the first step up into the air for tens of thousands. Like the other films in this series, "Flying Sense" offers a unique insight into wartime flight training and uses humorous vignettes, vivid illustrations and cutting edge animations to get its point across. Motion picture films don't last forever; many have already been lost or destroyed.
