Playboy is an American men's lifestyle magazine; initially run in print and later released online. The first issue featured the tragic bombshell Marilyn Monroe at the close of 1953. Hugh Hefner's mother contributed a thousand to get the issue running. Magazine issues came complete with centerfolds of nude and seminude bunny models as well as short stories and comics. Shel Silverstein featured work in the lusty mag as well as Margaret Atwood. The compilation is interwoven with commercials of the time period including Miller high life; Texas Instrument calculators and Panasonic record players. It’s a rapid fire slice of pop culture and style of the time through television and magazine advertisement. Booze, bunny's and stars like Godfrey Cambridge are featured. The film opens with the Playboy Bunny logo beaming from the iris of some babe's eye (:11). Magazine issues pass in montage (:32) including the 1976 issue with an interview for Jimmy Carter (:39). Playboy funny cartoons (:52) and the 1965 issue with Bob Dylan interview follow (1:19). A sensual masculine drawl pours over a glass of Miller High Life (2:27). Hands rap on piano keys by masked patrons (9:10) as a sophisticated man sips on Colt 45. A man suffering with a headache takes an Anacin pill (9:39). Godfrey Cambridge (10:04) advertises underwear. Hotpoint refrigerators (10:31) pour ice and water through the door. The Hot Point logo follows (10:55). Ivory soap makes for clean skin (11:52). A family man returns home from the fair with balloons (12:05) and a ketchup stain (12:10). Enzyme Punch fights tough stains (12:17). A boy on the bus boasts about tough teeth from using Colgate (12:46). Bed sheets are advertised from Penny's (13:14). A couple at home chomps on Buckwheat's Cereal (13:47). British Columbia (14:27) bidet towelettes (14:44) and liquid douches (14:53). Hills Brothers instant cafe mocha pours smooth (15:16). Icing and cream pours over Winchell’s donuts (17:04). A blonde advertises Miss Clairol (17:23). A young boy gives his father his Marine service uniform (19:02). Planter’s Oil floats over competitors oil brands in demonstration (19:41). Clark Bars are picked up at a Major League baseball game (20:30). Thick shakes from Bird’s Eye (21:36) are enjoyed at home. The advertisement uses a late 1980's Citroen (21:50). First line (21:59) advertises easy banking. Diamonds sparkle from Zale’s (22:45). Steelers players fight over luggage (23:08). Construction workers (23:58) hang on scaffolding. Miller Lite advertises reprieve from work stress (24:04). Cartoons advertise salty sweet refreshments at the theater (25:36). A note encourages to donate to the Israel’s Histadrut campaign (27:54). A newlywed couple (28:10) are featured in a new comedy called 'Nancy' (28:22) aired on NBC for a season between 1970 and 1971. A mother spills Mrs. Butterworth over pancakes at the breakfast table (30:21). New sweaters arrive at Kodel (31:49). The valley of the Green Giant (32:51) boasts healthy green peas from lusty soil.
