<description>Dating to the 1930s and made by the Polish Gdynia America Line, VISIT PALESTINE NOW presents a voyage aboard the SS Pulaski (formerly the Russian-American Line's SS Czar) to the Holy Land. The trip originates from New York and goes to Warsaw (;40) and thence by rail to Bucharest and finally Constanza where "we embark on a steamer for the direct run to Haifa". Haifa is seen at 1:12 and the Pulaski at 1:20. At 1:57 Jewish tourists dance on the deck of the vessel. At 2:40, a Rabbi and Kantor G. Sirota of Warsaw are seen on deck as the sun goes down. Religious services are seen on the ship. At 4:30, Purim is shown celebrated in the streets of Tel-Aviv. At 4:48 the flag now affiliated with the state of Israel flies over the city. At 5:30 a parade of camels goes through the streets as part of the festival, followed by floats at 6:10. At 6:40 the harvest festival at Tel-Aviv is shown and school children bring green plants to celebrate the arrival of summer. At 7:50 the Levant Fair is shown and at 7:58 British officers are seen at the event. At 8:46 a local museum is shown. The film ends with a special promotional message aimed at viewers -- "You too can now visit the land of your forefathers..." SS Czar, or Царь in Russian, was an ocean liner for the Russian American Line before World War I. The ship was later known as Estonia for the Baltic American Line, Pułaski for the Gdynia America Line and as a British Ministry of War Transport troopship, and as Empire Penryn after World War II. The liner was built in Glasgow for the Russian American Line in 1912 and sailed on North Atlantic routes from Libau to New York. On one eastbound voyage in October 1913, Czar was one of ten ships that came to the aid of the burning Uranium Line steamer Volturno. After the Russian Revolution, the ship came under the control of the British Shipping Controller and was managed by the Wilson Line and later, the Cunard Line. Under Cunard management in 1918 as HMT Czar, she was employed as a troopship carrying United States troops to France as part of the United States Navy's Cruiser and Transport Force. After the end of World War I, the ship was returned to the East Asiatic Company, the parent company of the Russian American Line, who placed her on their Baltic American Line sailing in roundtrip passenger service to New York under the name Estonia. She was sold to the Polish Gdynia America Line in 1930, and renamed SS Pułaski the following year for Polish passenger service to North and South America.
