Writer and producer Warren Wallace interviews students at their chosen colleges and universities. Through these interviews, viewers are able to understand the changes students undergo exposed to the studious environments. College football fans wave arms in stands (:24). A student ponders the decision to choose the right school. Another studies in the yard in Illinois (:37). The towers of Amherst College follow (:41). Students pass on the sidewalk before San Francisco State College (:47). Aerial shots move over Amherst (1:23) Massachusetts. Amherst was founded in 1821 as an all-male college. In 1975, however, they transitioned into coeducation. The liberal arts program is discussed (1:33). A medical student explains “why Amherst” in the school gym (1:58). Theater students rehearse for a play (3:13). A series of drama students (3:50) explain orientation and the pressures of the first year of college. The narrator draws on the necessity of visiting colleges and discussing with actively enrolled students (6:01). He explains a need to keep options open as they explore the field of further education (8:42). Some students feel a draw to big buzzing state universities such as (11:53) the University of Illinois. A brown bobbed gal (12:23) discusses her experience transitioning from a small town to a big city university. Another prepares viewers on the pressures of heavy class work (13:25). A student warns about grades and early mistakes (14:46). Socialization in larger universities and sororities is explored (15:18). The notion of ‘fitting in’ (15:28) leads to white pillars and red brick face of the main campus English building (16:11). Socialites lounge on the green (16:20) comparing 'Greek versus independent'. A Female student talks about changing majors (17:39). She explains frustration over money (18:15); maintaining part time employment while focusing on school with low funds.  Students settle down in the mess hall (19:28). Class size of state universities are explored (19:52). Many students prepare by meeting with counselors in high school (20:29). A car from the San Francisco municipal rail line (21:27) runs up at the line at the San Francisco State College. Students travel from surrounding towns within San Francisco Bay area to attend (21:36), commuting by automobile or trolley car. The Attorney General of the State of California delivers a speech outside on the green in center campus (22:06). An important segment (22:43) explains the necessity for debate and connection among college students as it often leads to influence in other areas of the world including politics. Debates enhance learning (23:22). A formerly liberal student jokes about being driven to anarchism (23:35). The subculture and overall non-conformist rhetoric is explored (24:14) of San Francisco State College. A “pom pom” girl (25:37) epitomizes the conformist traditional college student experience (26:05).
