It was shot by famed photographer Margaret Bourke-White, and is known as her first (and last) attempt at filmmaking. The film was made possible thanks to a donation of 20,000 feet of film by Kodak. Bourke-White was an American photographer and documentary photographer and the first foreign photographer permitted to take pictures of Soviet industry under the Soviets' first five-year plan.
