The film warns against the everyday dangers found in the home that threaten the safety of children. The film begins with an animated sequence featuring Mrs. Hazard, who is voiced by Martha Wentworth, as she takes the viewer on a tour of her little cottage and all of the hazardous items she has around from knives and guns to open flames and rickety ladders. The film then switches to live action footage of program host Reed Hadley who introduces Dr. Harry F. Dietrich of the Beverly Hills Clinic and the Dept. of Pediatrics, UCLA Medical School. Dr. Dietrich emphasizes that home accidents kill more children than the most common diseases or even traffic accidents. As Hadley closes out the segment the film switches once more to the home of husband and wife duo played by James Brown and Randy Stuart. The parents think the film was hyperbolic so Hadley challenges them to see just how safe their home truly is. Mrs. Hazard answers the door of her “Hazard House” cottage and invites the viewer in to see “pretties” she has around the house (0:06). Mrs. Hazard talks through all of the “pretties” from “hand toys for manual dexterity”that include knives, guns, and an electric chair (0:14). Mrs. Hazard’s tour continues in her kitchen where stove crowded with pots that have turned out handles, house-hold poisons like ant poison, ammonia etc. on display under kitchen sink (0:35). The play yard: a bonfire with gasoline canister nearby, old ladder, tool shed with saws and shovels, deep well/pond in the middle of the yard, deep irrigation ditch (0:50). Footage switches from animation to live action: host Reed Hadley holds up poster of Mrs. Hazard’s House while introducing guest Dr. Harry F. Dietrich - an authority on child accident problems (2:18). Reed Hadley closes segment, footage switches to husband and wife watching show on TV set in living room (4:00). Parents talk about segment and the husband feels they “over did” the segment, Reed Hadley challenges the statement and tests the safety of the family’s home (4:08). Baby Cindy plays with wood stick toy, doll in wood play pen before playing with a worn out electrical wire, Hadley walks them through how to improve situation (4:45). Cindy’s older brother tries to climb on dirty clothes hamper to access medicine in medicine cabinet (6:48). Utility closet with household solvents, rat poison, flammables locked with padlock (7:00). Mother walks into kitchen to check that pot handles are turned in, everything up to safe standard (7:49). Mother scolds Cindy as she catches her playing with loose matches (8:23). Dr. Dietrich presents chart indicating how much protection and supervision children need by age (9:02). Hadley closes out show (9:56). Husband and wife reflect on the tv program, wife says they should get a child safety checklist from the Health Department (10:24). Closing credits (10:55).
