This documentary series aired on NBC from 1952 to 1953. The series was later released as a feature film in 1954. It featured warfare from WW2 as well as industry's role in war. This episode takes a look at Pearl Harbor; the events which lead to the heavily planned attack as well as the restoration project following the attack. The film opens with the series logo (:14). It is a production of NBC in cooperation with the US Navy (:21). Henry Salmon produced the film (:29). The music score was created by Richard Rogers (:35). Aerial shots of Pearl Harbor appear prior to the start of the war (1:17). The Aloha tower stands on Ala Moana Blvd (1:23). The SS Lurline swims in (1:26). This cruiser liner was specifically crafted for travels to Hawaii and Australia. Hawaiian lays are set around the necks of tourists (1:39). Hula girls swing grass skirts (1:46). Tokyo city (2:23) in 1941 appears. City buses and cyclists run through busy streets (2:31). Women in traditional attire slip past modern western style dresses pedestrians (2:36). Scenes of contrasting Japanese culture of old and new follow (2:44). The Japanese army marches (3:00). Japanese forces invade Manchuria (3:34) in 1931. Forces appear in Nanchang (3:45). Japanese flags are waved over a portion of the Great Wall (3:50). Members of the Japanese high command (3:59) meet to plot war. Hideki Tojo (4:10) steps from his car. Naval guns rotate (4:29) for Pearl Harbor. The Hawaiian Islands are pictured on a Japanese map (5:00). Targets are highlighted (5:06). Ford Island was the main target (5:30). Japanese war planes continue for Hawaii (12:10).  A barren Fort Street appears in Honolulu (12:29). The coast of Oahu is serene (12:39). The early morning hours are captured on the island (12:50). Pilots move slowly through Hickam airfield (13:01). An army radar station operator sights incoming planes (13:23). The places were written off as friendly (13:37). Scenes follow from December 7th (13:45) as sailors and enlisted men scatter (14:26). Bombs fall (14:30). Explosions pop over Pearl Harbor (14:37). Planes burning on the ground (14:48). The Japanese air fleet swings in low over Hickam (15:32). US Navy men fire back (18:07). Japanese bombs spill down (18:09). Naval guns blast away (19:02). A sentry gun hits an enemy plane (19:18). Another Japanese plane goes down by the coast line (19:39). The Japanese fleet peels away (20:40) smoke and rubble in their wake (20:45). Battle ships such as Oklahoma, Arizona and Nevada lay wasted in the water (20:56). The camera moves over the scene as firefighters work to put out the flames (21:12). Planes sit ruined in hangars (21:27). A Japanese pilot floats face down (21:56). A submarine lay dead on the shore (22:00). Wounded are removed (22:15) as the dead are accounted for (22:26). Tokyo government officials report news of the attack (22:52). Propaganda reports stream out (23:04). Tojo appears (23:30). Imperial flags wave (23:37). Lanterns burn in celebration (24:00). A salvage job is enacted over the debris of Pearl Harbor (24:27). Crosses mark the graves of unidentified bodies (25:35).
